International Anti-Corruption Day is observed annually, on 9 December, since the adoption of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) on 31 October 2003 to raise public awareness for anti-corruption.
Laos ratified the UNCAC in 2009 and anti-corruption is one of the national priorities in the run of becoming a rule of law state.
On this occasion, ILSTA is taking part in a series of actions in cooperation with the Lao Government to sensibilise and raise alertness on anti-corruption.
Earlier today at the Celebration of the 16th Anniversary of the International Anti-Corruption Day, Mr. Bounthong Chitmany, Deputy Prime Minister stated
” On this auspicious occasion, on behalf of the Lao government, the Central State Inspection and Anti-Corruption Authority and on my own behalf, I am urging all organizations, domestic and foreign, Lao citizens, expatriates working in Laos PDR to strongly cooperate in the monitoring, inspecting, preventing and combating corruption in all forms “.
SIA is one of ILSTA’s important cooperation partners since 2015. We are looking forward to supporting a joint action plan nation-wide in the coming years.
