The 28th Commission on Crime and Criminal Justice in Vienna on 20-24th May

The 28th Commission on Crime and Criminal Justice is being held in Vienna from 20-24th of May, the most important global forum on criminal justice and crime prevention where trends and challenges are presented in the plenary or discussed in one of the multiple side events.

Formal and informal cooperation and sharing of best lessons is essential to address transnational organised crime. The 28th session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice organised here in Vienna is not only a forum exchanging lessons learned and trends, but is also an important global forum strengthening international cooperation against organised crime. Most ASEAN / SEA countries are represented at this important conference. Among them a high level delegation from the Ministry of Justice of Thailand, the Office of the Attorney General and the Thailand Institute of Justice.
As in previous years, ILSTA has linked up with the CCPCJ. The CCPJ is a tool for sharing best lessons. Cesaro Sirignano, National Anti Mafia Prosecutor from Italy, shared lessons learned about Italian legal provisions on “justice collaborators”, such as repented mafia members and witnesses. Both play an important role in combating and prosecuting organised crime in Italy, as people don’t speak out about organised crime, fearing for their security and of their families.
