Professor Martin Holland, who is the Director of the National Centre for Research on Europe at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, and who holds a Jean Monnet Chair, gave an open lecture on “Still a kind of United States of Europe” The EU’s Global Ambitions and Challenges. Professor Holland provided an overview of the development of the EU and its expansion and focused on the challenges that the EU has faced during the last year or so. The presentation was followed by a question and answer session.
