ILSTA was represented at the twenty-sixth session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), which took place in Vienna from 22-26 May 2017.
The CCPCJ is the main global event on crime prevention and criminal justice and addresses annually critical thematic issues among member states and affiliated networks. For this 26th session the theme was: “Comprehensive and integrated crime prevention strategies“.
Crime prevention is seen today one of the most important ways of combating crime and managing social relations.
This 26th CCPJC gave the opportunity to member states and networks to exchange best practice and the latest research on countering organised crime.
The Crime Commission also runs a number of side events focusing on crime prevention and anti-corruption, including in-depth focus sessions on topics such as organised crime, mutual legal assistance, illegal wildlife trade, narcotics, violent extremism, prison management, human trafficking etc. sharing critical knowledge among participants.
